Shabbat Israelit – A Shabbat of Togetherness

Sitting at Shabbat Table

Shabbat Israelit is Back!!!

A year ago we turned the vision into reality. It all started a seemingly simple idea: to have a joint dinner on Shabbat of families from different backgrounds – religious, secular or traditional. We at Beit Hillel believe so strongly that this connection is indispensable, we decided to initiate the project “Shabbat Israelit ” to connect religious and secular families together for one meal.

With God’s help, with your help, and with great effort, the project was a great success. No less than 6,000 families met around the Shabbat table, connected, dropped pre-conceptions and eventually realized that we all have so much in common.

WE ARE DOING IT AGAIN THIS YEAR! Building on the sense of unity and love of this past summer, we are repeating and expanding Shabbat Israelit – this time with many more partner organizations. Also: we have chosen the Shabbat to coincide with the International Shabbat Project.

awesome concept I hope that many families participate. It’s a pity that your article doesn’t mention how this year it coincides with the international shabbos project

Tali – Thanks for your suggestion. I’ve added a link to our earlier post/video about Shabbat Israelit All Around the World.

HI – Great idea and worthy cause – the forms for completion are in Hebrew only – makes it hard (impossible) for some to join in.
